Who is New Life?
New Life Church began as a church plant in the early 2000s. Over the years, we have grown and changed. However, we have always keep the close-knit community feel. We come from all walks of life. We have a saying at New Life Church: no matter who you are or where you are on life's journal, you are welcome here. The point is that we are all on a journey with Jesus Christ. We seek to follow Him, teach and uphold orthodox biblical truth, and transform lives for the sake of Jesus. You will find that the Word of God is preached, the sacraments are celebrated, and everyone is invited into a relationship with the Living God and to participate in the life of the church.
We are Methodists
Methodists are Christians who follow the teachings of John Wesley. Wesley was an 18th century English reformer who started what was known as the Holy Club Movement. This "movement" would eventually became what we know today as Methodism (see our page on "What is a Methodist?" for more information on the specific teachings). As a priest in the Church of England, he sought to bring about reforms and changes in the spiritual life of the people of England. Wesley taught that Christians are solely dependent upon the grace of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, and that we should strive to live lives that are spiritually wholesome and holy. And, part of this is allowing God's grace to permit our lives, so that we to draw closer and closer to God in what Wesley calls "entire sanctification" or "Christian perfection."
